The condition of the believer in Christ after they die

What is the condition of your family and friends who have died who were believers in Christ, and what will be your condition when you die as a believer in Christ?

  1. They and you will be conscious even though the body will perish because the soul shall be alive and conscious. We are told in God's word that believers after they die experience fulness of joy and pleasures evermore. They also shall behold Christ's glory, sing His praises and serve Him. Clearly if the soul of the dead believer is doing these things they must be conscious.
  2. The soul of the dead believer is not only conscious but also with Christ. A believer’s death is described as being with Christ which is far better, a being absent from the body but present with the Lord.
  3. The believer’s soul being conscious with Christ is also blessed. We are told in Revelation 14 v 3 "Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord." Dying in the Lord means in life you trusted in Him to save you a sinner and as a result lived to please your Lord and Saviour.

It's not that these things are true for everyone who has died or for everyone who will die, it's just those who came or will come in their lives to Christ for salvation. The condition of all who die without Christ as their Saviour is hopeless as they die unforgiven all their sins, so is far from being blessed, it goes on to say in Revelation 14 that unbelievers are cast into the wine-press of the wrath of God.

So, remember you will exist after your death a lot longer than you have lived, therefore trust in Christ to save you a sinner. You have then the assurance of God's word that when you die your soul will be consciously with Christ and eternally blessed.
