“Who hath believed our report?”

"Who hath believed our report?"

Isaiah 53 v 1

Why is it so many don't believe the gospel, don't believe on Christ when He is preached as the only saviour of sinners?

  1. Many don't think they are in great danger. They are well satisfied with themselves and reject the plain truth of God's word that they are going eternally to hell.
  2. Others don't think it is relevant to them, they don't realise the gospel is the very thing they need to hear. So they are inattentive when they hear the gospel or quickly turn their minds to other things after hearing it.
  3. Many of course love the world with its money, material things and pleasures too much. They are taken up with it and have no room for thinking about their soul and eternal future. They think true happiness is found in earthly things when it's only found in God.
  4. They are relying on the things they have done, religious or other things, imagining this makes them acceptable to God and gets them a place in God's heaven.

Today, Jesus is still "despised and rejected of men" Make very sure this isn't you, that you don't disobey the good news that you must repent and believe on Christ to be saved. Think about what God's word says in 2 Thessalonians 1 v 7-9, "The Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with His mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ; Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power."
